Foresight is proud to be an approved 3rd party verifier for the Declare label! Our team is ready to help you celebrate your products' sustainability attributes to better connect with the architecture and design (A&D) community and customers.

What is a Declare label?

The Declare label is described as a "nutrition label" for products. Operated by the International Living Futures Institute (ILFI), Declare is a transparency platform and product database that discloses chemical composition, embodied carbon, end-of-life options, Living Building Challenge compliance, and life expectancy. This database quickly connects the A&D community with conscious manufacturers committed to sustainability.

Why pursue Declare?

A&D firms are increasingly including material transparency requirements for RFPs, and Declare directly contributes to ILFI's Living Product and Living Building Challenges, LEED, WELL, and other standards. The Declare label immediately differentiates your product in the marketplace, making it easy for A&D to align with their customers' goals.

Declare also ensures your products are red list-free and compliant with state and federal chemical regulations. Through the Declare process, our team will help you identify concerning chemicals throughout your supply chain and create a plan to eliminate them from your product. Declare labels can be third-party verified to prove your compliance and commitment to sustainable products.

What makes Declare different?

Declare is operated by the International Living Futures Institute (ILFI). ILFI champions sustainability in the building and product industries with some of the most stringent certifications and standards. ILFI doesn't only retroactively impact existing systems but also proactively designs net-positive environments. Declare is on the cutting edge of product sustainability and will accelerate your products and organizations' sustainability journey.

How do we get a Declare label?

To obtain a Declare label, you must inventory all chemicals in your product at 100ppm (0.01wt%). This effort requires identifying all unique materials in your product and collecting supply chain data about the chemical composition of all components. Once the inventory is complete, you submit it to ILFI through the 3E Exchange with the option to pursue third-party verification. Foresight offers services to help you inventory, survey, compile, and submit all data required for either a verified or non-verified Declare label.

Can I get this certification on my own?

Yes. Any company can create a 3E account and submit a Declare to ILFI, but you must partner with an ILFI-approved verifier, like Foresight, for third-party verification. In addition to verification, Foresight offers services to help you inventory, survey, compile, and submit all data required for either a verified or non-verified Declare label.

Can Foresight do this for me?

Absolutely! From start to finish, Foresight can be your Declare partner.
